January 7,2024
President Rice called the meeting to order at noon, the minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted. The treasurer was absent. Secretary Gillum gave a report on the savings and checking accounts.
Old Business:
President Rice gave a report on the number of deer kills called to his attention. 10 bucks and 1 doe.
New Business:
On November 24,2023,7:30 pm two riders accidentally rolled down a 200 foot embankment and one was trapped in the side by side. Contacted by Onstar from the vehicle the Maryland State Police helicopter was dispatched. The Cresaptown volunteer fire department and the Maryland DNR was also contacted and arrived at the scene. Both riders were not members,
They could be charged with trespassing at $560 each. The officers of the club agreed to offer each, 4 years membership payable by the March 3rd meeting instead of the fine from the DNR. This proposal was voted in favor by the membership at the meeting.
President Rice reported that a certain member continually rides the trails during deer season, this has been reported several times in previous years. Rice will send a certified letter to this individual stating the next occurrence will cancel his membership.

New Business: Motion made and accepted that doe season this year we will follow all of the Maryland laws concerning doe regulations on private land.
Secretary Gillum received a call from the Md. DNR on Friday September 3 that they had a trespasser at our Brant Rd. gate. Seems the trespasser accessed our property thru the State WMA area and got lost. He had a 3 yr.old girl and a infant in his jeep. Thinking the gate was the WMA gate called them to open the gate. They called the DNR and they called me to open the gate. The DNR found that the trespasser was a wanted fugitive. He received a summons for trespassing on state and our property.
Also the DNR caught 6 folks riding on state property and fined each $250.

The officers recently meet with Mr. Gibbs to discuss his fee and our cost to maintain our land designation as managed Forest.

May 12, 2019 Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 12 noon by Vice President John Pratt, Reading of the minutes from the previous meeting were read and accepted., The Treasurer was absent due to work.
New Business: The range is need of some work, a work detail is to be announced soon. The forester did a survey and told President Rice that 20 ac. needs to be cleaned up. Also said that some of the money from the Federal Program we are doing will be soon released.
Old Business: Vice President Pratt will be contacting the DNR soon about repairing some of our roads so fire fighting apparatus can travel the roads if needed.

April 14, 2019 Meeting Minutes

New Business: President Rice stated the timber company has completed their job. We are waiting now for the ok from the Dept. of Agriculture.
Motion made and approved to donate $50 to the Battie Mixon fishing rodeo. The 71st Fishing rodeo will be held June 1, 2019 at the Battie Mixon fishing pond on the C&O canal in Oldtown Md.at 10a.m.
Old Business: The roads took a beating this past winter. We are hoping the Md. Department of the Forest and Parks and Maryland DNR repair some roads for the fire services of Allegany county.

A letter was received asking for a donation to help with medical expenses for Sarah Lafferty, age 14, undergoing chemotherapy for brain cancer. The Sportsman Club made a donation of $25, and members in attendance donated another $245.

Land: New keys are now being distributed to the gates. Recently 55 acres were purchased near the Brant road gate and it is clearly marked with no trespassing signs.Please respect these new owners and neighbors until the officers meet with them..
